Traveler’s Guide to Nevis
In late September / early October, Nevis daytime temperatures are between 86 - 88 °F with cooler evenings around 75 - 77 °F. September/October falls within the Caribbean rainy and hurricane season, so brief showers are possible.
Nevis observes Atlantic Standard Time year-round and does not observe daylight saving time. During the program dates, Nevis will be the same time as Charlotte/New York.
The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) although U.S. dollars (USD) are widely accepted in many hotels, shops and restaurants.
Four Seasons Nevis offers U.S.-style outlets in guest rooms, so adapters are typically not needed while on property. For use off-property, we recommend bringing a universal travel adapter. Travelers should also confirm that personal appliances, especially hair tools, are dual voltage before use.
Major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, are widely accepted especially in hotels, car rentals and most larger shops/restaurants in tourist areas. Smaller establishments (beach bars, small taxis) may prefer or only accept cash.
Tipping is customary in Nevis. A service charge is often included; if not, 10–15% for good service is typical. All taxes, tips, and gratuities for bellmen, housekeeping, activities and included meals are already covered in your itinerary.
Nevis is safe and friendly—just take basic precautions, secure valuables, and use hotel safes. Tap water is generally safe to drink, though bottled water is widely available. In case of emergency, dial 911 for police, fire, or medical assistance.
In Nevis, the most common ways to get around are by taxi or rental car, as ride-hailing apps like Uber aren’t available on the island. Taxis in Nevis are readily available but unmetered, so it’s best to confirm the fare before starting your ride.
