Alaska operates on Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT). In August, Ketchikan is 4 hours behind Eastern Time and 1 hour behind Pacific Time. When it’s 8:00 AM in Ketchikan, it’s 12:00 PM in New York and 9:00 AM in California.
Suggested Packing List
Steamboat Bay provides designer all-weather fishing gear, including slickers and boots for daily fishing excursions. Premium sport-fishing equipment is also provided, so there is no need to bring your own rods, reels or tackle.
Guests are provided premium Seeker rods, Shimano reels and Eagle Claw hooks. Guides prepare and bait each setup for a seamless fishing experience.
We recommend packing lightly and bringing only the essentials listed below. Please remember that your vacuum-packed seafood will count toward your checked-luggage allowance on your return flight.

U.S. Coast Guard trained and licensed, they captain your heated cabin cruiser, find the fish, offer instruction on Alaska-style technique, bait your hook, and help bring in the catch—from king and silver salmon to halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. Through their expertise, our guides ensure that your luxury Alaska sport-fishing experience is exciting, rewarding, safe, comfortable, and customized to individual preference.
Steamboat Bay features guided saltwater sport fishing aboard custom-built North River cabin cruisers outfitted with top gear and state-of-the-art marine technology.
For after fishing enjoyment, guests may book a sports massage/wellness treatment* explore Steamboat Bay via kayak, on a nature walk, or by soaking up the view from the hot tubs conveniently located on the wraparound decks of the Lodge and the Residence. Diversions also include a big-screen TV, game tables, cigars, and open bars with premium wines, beer and spirits.
Personalized service is a mainstay at Steamboat Bay. Just let your guide know your preferences for on-water activities: all-day fishing, a half-day of fishing, a half-day of whale watching, a half-day of exploring...Your stay is yours to invent.
